I am completely hooked to the show, Criminal Minds. The fact that the show focuses on the criminal and not the crime per se particularly fascinates me. I like the intriguing discoveries that the show characters make in every episode. I find all the technology that is showcased across all episodes of the show particularly intriguing and at the same, very exciting. In fact, it is my dream to someday join the FBI, at the same Behavioral Analysis Unit (BAU) at Quantico, Virginia which is showcased in the show.

That life maybe dangerous, but what’s life without some thrill and adventure? Also, in today’s terror-ridden life, danger is lurking at every corner…who knows, even while you are at home or at work, a drone could come flying and crash into your hitherto comfortable habitat. So, do not, under any circumstances, consider your current habitat to be danger-proof!

Criminal Minds 7.10 “The Bittersweet Science” Review

There is no doubt that this episode was pleasant basically because of the stellar performances put up by Charles S Dutton and Shawn Hatosy, however Hotch finally getting some dating plotline was awesome. The writers must be appreciated for this even if that part lasted for less than five minutes. Viewers are okay with that.

In this week’s episode of the show, Dutton did wonderfully well in portraying an old-fashioned Philadelphia boxing instructor, also Hatosy put up a convincing act that he was a psychologically unbalanced fighter with a gravely sick kid. Dutton spectacularly acted the part where Tony was killed by Jimmy. Watching that scene was almost distressing.

The scene wherein Jimmy saw his son in a vision bleeding out his eyes was not really necessary, but apart from that, the flashbacks and visions nicely gave reasons for his mental state. How Hatosy’s character got into that blood lust of his was not so clear – it was not even completely explained in their profile, but that did not specifically hurt the story.

Rossi was totally charming in persuading Hotch to have a shot at the dating world; also it was hilarious when Reid said, “Who is getting a bike?” This sort of moments, and Garcia ridiculing the last Rocky film, are what introduce a little additional lightheartedness to commonly heavy material.

It was heartrending watching the part where Hotch persuaded Jimmy to let his son know its okay to let go, and the scene in which Hotch shed tears was especially moving. It is not often that viewers see breaks in his shell, and not a few viewers must have actually enjoyed having additional look at his human aspect. Hoatosy also displayed a touching act in that scene. Some viewers claim that knowing who the unknown subject is through out the episode is anti-climatic. Finding out from the begging that this was the criminal did appear to lessen the intensity of the suspense, however coming off previous week one can still over look that.

This week Prentiss was given very little action, and viewers would have appreciated it if a bit more of Reid was shown, however these are only minor grumbles that did not actually take away any excitement from the episode. The part on the plane wherein Garcia said something embarrassing regarding Hotch was highly amusing. Even fans who prefer less chitchat and more crime talk, would readily acknowledge that was a charming moment.
